The Art of Italian Glassmaking: Why You Should Seek Out Made-in-Italy Glassware
Every country has its specialty, that “go-to” item that immediately brings it to mind: fine chocolate from Switzerland, sweet perfumes from France, warm woolens from Ireland and spectacular stemware from Italy.
To say we’re proud of our Italian heritage is an understatement: living our founder and namesake’s principles at Luigi Bormioli is our way of life. His engineering prowess shaped our research and development culture and keeps us ahead of new glassware trends, shapes and technologies. Since 1946, we’ve had an unwavering commitment to his legacy of great design and craftsmanship. Our timeless, lead-free and eco-friendly designs are inspired by innovation in our relentless pursuit of the perfect glass.
Why Italian Glassware
Our devotion is rooted in Italian glassmaking methods that have flourished since the Middle Ages, starting on the Venetian island of Murano. Glassmakers there developed a clear, brilliant glass called cristallo and, although once a well-kept secret, their processes spread throughout Italy and to our home in Parma. To this day, 25 generations and counting, glassmakers still embrace the earlier Italian masters’ noble craft from our family-owned and operated headquarters in Parma. Trends fade, but passion lasts forever, and we’re passionate about using amazing materials combined with our proprietary formulas for strength, brilliance and durability to create exquisite, affordable and still made-in-Italy glasses for your enjoyment.
Marrying History with Technology
Take our Supremo collection, a stellar example of how we achieve purity of taste with glasses designed to maximize your experience. They’re carefully made so aromas dance on the nose and flavors blend for the perfect sip.
Our Supremo stemware and stemless glasses are created in conjunction with the prestigious Italian Centro Studi Assaggiatori, international specialists in food and beverage sensory analysis. The elegant bowl is shaped to develop aroma and flavor to the fullest. You’ll love the way it looks, how it feels in your hand and the way it brings wine to your lips.
Supremo stemware shines with our proprietary SON.hyx formula to strengthen while keeping the glass brilliant. SON.hyx is also the little gem that keeps it dishwasher-safe and ultra-clear through 4,000 dishwasher cycles.
Our proprietary TITANIUM Reinforced stem keeps that critical part of our Supremo glasses strong and durable. This advanced treatment permanently enhances hardness and resists abrasions and scratches for a superior stem.
